NIACRO, in partnership with the Probation Service, provides a specialist advice service meeting the particular needs of people in contact with the criminal justice system.
NIACRO’s Advice Service is unique. It is the only service offering advice and support right across Northern Ireland to prisoners, prisoners’ families, released prisoners and offenders in the community. We provide information, advice and representation on subjects like benefits, housing and debt. Our aim is to provide accurate, up-to-date and relevant advice which will help prisoners and their families break the cycle of debt, benefit dependency, poverty and to help move into employment. The Advice Service helps people from all of NIACRO’s services and people who are in contact with Probation NI. Last year the service dealt with 2339 enquiries from 1218 service users both in the prisons and in the community. We are also a member of AdviceNI.
