Base 2

Category: Working with Offenders and Ex-Prisoners

Base 2 is a crisis intervention service for individuals and families who are at risk of being excluded by their community, or are under threat of paramilitary violence.

Base 2 has been in operation since 1990 and has helped over 900 people in the last year. NIACRO’s project workers seek to confirm, as quickly as possible, whether there is a real threat to a person’s safety and what the nature and extent of that threat is. The project worker will then mediate with the community to try and find ways of resolving the situation to remove the threat.

Base 2 gives people practical advice and support on housing and benefits and, if necessary, can help with travel arrangements. The project also liaises closely with the Housing Executive about the need for emergency accommodation (staff will make contact with any other services that need to be involved to support the person or family).

The project is available anywhere in Northern Ireland. If you need to contact Base 2, please use the contact details on the right hand side of this page.
