Base 2

Category: Working with Offenders and Ex-Prisoners

The Base 2 project is a crisis intervention service for individuals and families who are at risk of being excluded by their community,or are under threat of paramilitary violence

Base 2 is a crisis intervention and support service for people who may be at risk of violence or exclusion from the community, and for their families. It has been in operation since 1990 and helped over 900 people in the last year

NIACRO’s project workers seek to confirm, as quickly as possible, whether or not there is a real threat to a person’s safety and what the nature and extent of that threat is. They then mediate with the community and try and find ways of resolving the situation so that any threats can be removed.

The project liaises closely with the Housing Executive about the need for emergency accommodation.

Base 2 gives people practical advice and support on housing and benefits and can help with travel arrangements if necessary.  Staff make contact with any other services that need to be involved to support the person or family.

The project operates from our Amelia St office but is available anywhere in Northern Ireland. If you need to contact Base 2, please phone the number below, during working hours (you can leave a message outside working hours), or you can contact the staff by e-mail.
