Our Projects

Working with Children & Young People who Offend

  • Advocacy

NIACRO works with some of the most disadvantaged and socially excluded children and young people in society.

  • Child and Parent Support (CAPS)

The Child and Parent Support programme aims to provide intensive support services to families whose children (aged 8 to 11) are at risk of taking part in anti-social/offending behaviour.

  • Mentoring

NIACRO’s mentoring programme recruits and trains volunteers from the local community to act as mentors for children and young people aged 10 to 17 who are at risk of offending or re-offending.

  • The Independent Representation Project

NIACRO volunteers visit the Juvenile Justice Centre and Lakewood Secure Care Centre each week, making themselves available for any young person who wants to discuss an issue or raise concerns.

  • The Independent Visitor Scheme

The programme offers a befriending and support service to young people who are "looked after" by the Boards and who have little or no contact with a parent or parental figure.
