David

Category: Jobtrack

While serving his sentence, David had become interested in fitness and wellbeing, regularly making use of gym facilities and training opportunities.

Upon release, David decided to seek employment in the fitness industry, but was concerned about his lack of qualifications and how his conviction might be perceived by employers in this field.  He was referred to the Jobtrack programme to get support.

Working with a NIACRO Employment Officer, David decided to undertake a Level 2 qualification in teaching exercise and fitness.  He did extremely well, passing with full marks.  This learning experience gave David confidence to seek a further Level 3 qualification, which affords him a greater chance of achieving employment.

His Employment Officer has liaised with a number of employers in the industry on his behalf and they have all stated they would be happy to employ David once he has finished his studies and should vacancies arise.  Without Jobtrack, David believes he would have been at risk of re-offending and the invaluable financial and personal support provided by NIACRO has given David the confidence to build a career for his future.
